Jordy Peute, 3rd degree black belt (owner / head instructor)

Jordy is the owner and head instructor of Gracie Barra Maastricht. He founded the gym in 2006 as a blue belt, while training with Remco Pardoel in Oss. At that time, he already held a 2nd degree black belt in Judo and a 3rd degree black belt in traditional Jiu Jitsu. In 2011, Jordy received his black belt in BJJ from professors Draculino and Remco Pardoel. He is currently a 2nd degree black belt. Furthermore, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Education and over 14 years of teaching experience in BJJ, grappling and MMA to recreational athletes, professional competitors, and law enforcement officers in his own gym as well as in private sessions, seminars, and multiple-day training camps. Jordy is known for his highly technical style and can bring anybody’s game to a next level.
Jordy has competed in BJJ, No Gi, and MMA competition at the highest possible level, including the IBJJF world championship at black belt adult and professional MMA (in which he amassed a 6-4 record with 6 submission victories). He has trained and competed in BJJ across the world, including in Asia, Europe, the US, and Brazil. Furthermore, Jordy has refereed countless matches in local BJJ and grappling tournaments. He has represented Gracie Barra from the start of his competitive career and he still regularly competes in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Grappling. Some of Jordy’s competition results include:

Daan Westra, 2nd degree black belt

Daan joined Gracie Barra Maastricht in 2008, shortly after his brother Wout encouraged him to do so. He had eight years of experience in traditional martial arts (Kung Fu) at that point. He has trained under Jordy for his entire BJJ career and was awarded his black belt in 2016 by professors Jordy Peute and Draculino. He is currently a 1st degree black belt. He has competed at the highest level in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and No Gi Grappling in Europe and the United States. He has amassed a 3-3 record in Mixed Martial Arts. Daan started teaching classes at Gracie Barra Weert as a blue belt in 2011 and has also briefly taught at Gracie Barra Roermond. He (or his brother) teaches classes at Gracie Barra Maastricht whenever Jordy is traveling for competitions. In his daily life, Daan is an assistant professor of Healthcare Management at Maastricht University, where he teaches Master and PhD students. As a result, he has developed a meticulous teaching style in the gym. Some of Daan’s competition results include:

Wout Westra, 1st degree black belt

Similar to his brother Daan, Wout joined Gracie Barra Maastricht in 2008 after eight years of training in traditional martial arts (Kung Fu). Despite a short stint at Gracie Barra Eindhoven while living in that area, Wout has trained with Jordy at Gracie Barra Maastricht from white to black belt, receiving his black belt from professors Jordy Peute and Draculino in 2017. Wout started teaching BJJ as a blue belt at Gracie Barra Weert and has almost 10 years of teaching experience. He has competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No Gi Grappling, and fought Mixed Martial Arts (he holds a 2-0 record). Wout is an active referee in local Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and No Gi Grappling tournaments. Whenever professor Jordy is traveling for competition, Wout teaches his powerfull and pressure-oriented style in our classes. Some of Wout’s competition results include:

Andy Peters, 1st degree black belt

After having trained in Capoeira for several years, Andy started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2009. For approximately five years, he combined training in both arts. After dedicating himself completely to BJJ however, he was awarded his black belt by Professors Jordy Peute and Draculino in April 2019. In 2014, Andy started teaching No Gi Grappling and MMA classes in Sittard and later in his own gym Evolve MovementxHealth in Susteren, where he now also teaches Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes. Throughout his career, Andy has been a very active competitor. He has competed throughout Europe in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No Gi Grappling, and Mixed Martial Arts (in which he gathered a 2-2 record).
